Weekend Review

The weather was perfect for being near the water and we got the opportunity to do just that both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, we went to Family/friends (Missy - <---isn't that explanation so much easier than hubby's cousin's wife and personal friend?)  Heath and Missy's family lake place so we hubby could help start building their deck. He got to work for a solid 10 hours and we got to play in the water/sand/sun. Fair? I think so.

Except... (hate that part) Josie had a fever the entire weekend and was just not happy. She was all over the place with what she did/did not want and I spent most of my time just trying to figure it out. I also didn't pull out my camera at all because she wasn't happy anyways, so instead I bring you old pictures representing our weekend. Good enough.

This was Josie about 1/3 the time. The other 2/3 she was freaking out because she wanted me to hold her or she wanted nothing to do with the sand and water.

On Sunday, we attempted going to a nearby beach that had a sandy shore and that was a HUGE fail. I figured out later that she probably had sand-burned feet and the hot sand just hurt instead when it was supposed to be fun. My feet hurt too so I can't blame her.

Once we got back, she was perfectly happy (a drastic change from the whole trip) sitting in the shade on the smooth deck for her little feet reading her books. Always happy to read her books.

She also had quality naps which helped everysingletime. We had a record long nap of 3 hours. THREE HOURS! Never before and probably never again, but she sure needed it.

Thankfully she feels better today and we are back on track.

So to sum up:

Long weekend, but beautiful weather and teething baby.

Weekend Update

This weekend we went to the lake (surprise, surprise) and we got to pick strawberries at a nearby berry farm. It was so fun! We didn't have any expectations since the weather has been up and down and we figured it'd be super expensive. It wasn't at all and they were delicious. We ate as many as we could and left with a bucket and a half.

We were kind of worried that we'd just end up chasing Josie around but she was so into eating them that she never strayed far from Grammy's bucket and always had a huge fresh strawberry in hand. Needless to say her sweatshirt need a good washing afterwards, but it was worth it.

Grammy and Boppa got her a bunch of new toys and it was perfect. She was so excited to try everything out so there was way less straying and chasing than before which I appreciated quite a bit. That girl wears a mama out.

The men worked hard at clearing out some old dead trees while Josie and I explored the uncharted territories of the property (only the mowed part of course).

Buckley would lay in any spot that was shaded and after a while he really got creative.

We brought out this swingset that a friend of ours gave us for free. Girl loves to swing and there's way more room out there for it than in our tiny backyard.

We also went to visit my grandparents and they ate her up. They haven't seen her (besides pictures) in quite a while and were pretty shocked by how much she had grown up. My grandma kept saying how she was just like my mom as a baby/toddler. I believe it!

On Sunday we went to visit another lake place. Family/friends Heath and Missy's family's place is only about 45 minutes away from my parent's place but it's totally different. The beach is super sandy and the lake is a lot bigger, and we got to swim and play in the sand way more than ever before. It did get kind of cold towards the end, but Josie loved it and we even got the men in the water. That NEVER HAPPENS. Hubby didn't grow up swimming like we did so he isn't drawn to water at all and I have to practically drag him in.

Swimming is definitely in the top 10 favorite things to do in the summer. Eating watermelon, rhubarb cake and pie, and laying in the sun is up there too.

Weekend Review

We spent the weekend at hubby's aunt's farm while they worked with the cattle. We spent time inside and out, trying to stay out of the way and avoiding the breakables. We also got to go see hubby's grandparents to celebrate his grandma's 75th birthday. There was great food and company and it was nice to see some of the family members that can't always make it.

I drove out there (three hour drive) by myself and it went pretty well. We have a cage-like divider between the back trunk area and the back seat so he can't jump over into Josie's space/face. It generally works great, but lately has been falling over right on to Buckley making him panic a little. Imagine my joy when it happened twice on the drive. And the last time, Josie had just woken up and wanted to be entertained and we still had 45 minutes left. Thank the Lord for giving me patience because we made it, but just barely!

On the way back, my sis-in-law came with and Josie slept the whole way. Incredible! It was actually a relaxing drive and I didn't feel the usual stress-after-a-trip because of it. Oh, and maybe because I was able to count on cleaning up a bit during the week which I have never been able to do. That is great too. :) I love staying at home.

We were a bit goofy yesterday evening.

And lastly, I got to enjoy my Mother's Day presents! Two cards and five candy bars. Love it!! I have a great hubby and daughter. :)

Color me Eggplant

Josie got to partake in her first Easter Egg dying day with the Deyle's! (Say that 5 times fast) We did it earlier this year so we would have more time to enjoy the colored eggs (and eat them with plenty of time to spare before the real deal Easter meal). Plus, with the weather being so perfectly lovely I think we are all just feeling the spring feeling that much more.

That was Saturday.

Then on Sunday, my parents came up (they are on spring break... seriously how jealous am I?) and we got to enjoy that beautiful weather even more. Josie stayed awake the whole time and was SO CHILL. She loves being outside. I can't really blame her though. Most of her life has been stuck inside staring at me.

I love weekends like this!

And guess what. The time change trick? It worked. Suckers!! You all thought it wouldn't..but she was in bed at 8 tonight and she slept in until almost 8 this morning. It's fabulous. We're all happy.

Weekend Update

This will be the most boring weekend update ever.

1. We watched TV in the living room. Josie explored the whole room numerous times and decided that her favorite place is the coffee table and everything on it. Joy for us, who gets to move everything around while she tries to grab each item.

2. We went to church and battled the weather. It actually wasn't that bad but we've been spoiled. Now that Josie has a big girl car seat, she has to be brave and bear the elements too. (bare? bear?) She could really care less, but this crazy mama is always concerned that she's going to lose her foot or hand from frostbite.

3. The rest... the rest you will see pictures of throughout the week. Truth: my camera is upstairs and I'm too lazy to go get it. So I'll do it later.

Happy Monday!

Quick weekend update

I ran outside this  weekend and didn't get sick. Also, I learned that I really need to work on speed since I was only averaging at about a twelve minute mile. Lame. Well at least I went out and did it.

Josie is back to her happy smiley self. It's wonderful and I feel like it must be summer mixed with my birthday mixed with the best part of every day because that's how much better she is.

I had a three day weekend. Best weekend.

Its already the  middle of February and you know what? I'm okay with that because  I've lost ten lbs as of this morning! It is so nice to hit this milestone, finally. It seemed to take forever. Hopefully the next ten will come off a little faster than three months since I've got this thing really rolling now.

Here we sit, watching cars drive by. Happy Monday!

Let's review, shall we?

  • I don't have fun pictures from this weekend because my camera is MIA. I'm sure it will turn up...eventually.
  • It snowed and snowed and snowed today and while it was so pretty with a winter wonderland feel, It was not fun to walk in with heels on, coffee spilling on my hand, and a heavy baby car seat on my other arm. Good thing she's cute...
  • Church was almost two hours long today. We got to hear a couple of testimonies from soon to be elders and the pastor still gave his message and I listened, absorbed, and loved every minute of it.
  • Josie is crawling. She is sitting. She is chattering. She is holding her bottle (sometimes). She is just growing up too. darn. fast!
  • I didn't eat very good this weekend. I didn't eat real meals, but I sure did snack. Oh hi there, gym, how are you? Let's be best friends this week!
  • Another thing that I am looking forward to once I lose some weight besides wearing my wedding ring again (so close, but so far away!) and having a bigger smile and eyes is buying dresses to wear at work and at home for all season. I love love love wearing dresses or skirts and hope to one day have them be the majority in my closet!
  • I'm in a smoothie kind of mood this week. Every day for lunch. I'm excited.
  • Tonight I'm going to put oil on my face instead of face wash. Curious?
  • I watched a lot of tv this weekend. Why? Because Josie is at an age where she is too busy to notice me. Seriously, she could care less about me and my attempts to play with her! Its kind of funny, and I don't mind it so much since I know that in not such a long time she will be wanting me to play with her all of the time.
  • I haven't painted my toenails all winter... sometimes it's just refreshing to have that all natural look, don't you think? (Don't worry, legs are still shaved. Not that  natural around here!)

Weekend update

We spent the weekend with my parents at the lake and we got NO PICTURES. I don't know what my deal was, but we had fun no less. So instead, I will show you some pictures of Josie "feeding" herself. Really she just held the food in her hands and tried to figure out where it went when it wasn't on the tray.

We painted the walls and ripped up carpet (we obviously means more Mike than me).

It was a shockingly cold weekend since we've been so spoiled this year. I had to wear mittens. and a hat. What has this world come to?

When we got home, I miraculously came up with supper of sloppy joe's and mac n cheese. Real healthy, not to mention classy.

I'm not ready for the week...

Weekend review

Somebody is eating twice as much as she was before! I swear she is a bottomless pit just like her dad. Why oh why didn't I inherit this gene too?

For all of you wondering where I got my marvelous sweats/dress pants, the answer is JCPenney's. They only cost about $25 and didn't stretch out like I was expecting. #victoryforthelazys

We had a nice weekend just doing random stuff and enjoying the comfort of home. I've managed to keep the house relatively neat and tidy which deserves a medal in my mind (hey don't laugh) and the weather is still unreal so this may just be the best January of my life. Usually at this time I am stuck in a rut working, eating, and sleeping all mopey like because the weather is the worst and its always dark out. There is just no time for that this year!

Also, since I've been so impressive already, I just wanted to share that I've also got my Christmas decorations down. Not necessarily put away because that is a project in itself, but down and no longer in my face. In was starting to feel ridiculous.

Let the work week begin!

Christmas part 3

Once the kid(s?) were in bed, the real party started.

To be fair, she (my sister Lara) had surgery last week so laying on the floor was a valid option almost all weekend. Nobody even made fun of her more than 2 times each. Impressive.

We played the game "Ruckus" which was fun. Two reasons: one, Ruckus is the name of Buckley when we first got him, but it didn't really fit... so we liked to yell it out and see his reaction. He on the other hand did not think it was so fun. And two, its super easy and each round only lasts 4 minutes or less. Perfect for those of us that can't handle true concentration.

Once those silly kids arrived (who has to work 60 hours a week and not get off til 6:30 on Christmas eve? Answer: Jewelry store consultants.) we got down to business and opened the presents. I show you these pictures with a word of caution. There is a lot of chaos, and your eyes may not know where to focus. Just note that the point of the pictures is the chaos. :)

Cousin-in-law-to-be Arron, sister Lara, aunt Lynne, dad Paul

continuing around the room: cousin Lindsay (usually quite a bit happier than this?), uncle Mike, mom Laurie, hubby Mike

Controlled chaos

Its getting crazy...

Crazier...crazier...

Paper, bows, boxes, and bags everywhere. She got the most gifts (deserved. Usually she gets jipped and she's the best gma/ma/wife there is) so she couldn't move from this spot for a solid 2 hours.
Oh man was it fun! Here are some highlights:

  • I got a Garmin Forerunner 205 from my parents and declared it the best gift ever.
  • My mom had to open two gifts for every one that we opened. I also secretly skipped my turn a couple of times to let her catch up. (We open gifts one at at time so we can enjoy each other's gifts as well)
  • The true winner for best gift(s) ever was the thick socks that my aunt got for the men. Ohmygoodness why these were such a hit nobody knows, but they practically fought over them and were all grinning ear to ear after opening them. Good job Aunt Lynne!
  • What did my cousin get from her fiance? Good question! The answer may shock you like it did to all of us. He got her these A-maz-ing platform peep toe zebra print shoes that fit perfectly. Who does that successfully?? They looked kind of like this but better.:

  • The best present for me was the Motorola tablet Mike got me. Like previously mentioned, I wanted a Nook super duper bad, but this is the clearly best alternative. Sidenote: how do you get library books on the Nook app? I figured it out on kindle but I don't really like the whole pay-for-it thing... if I only want to read it once, I certainly don't want to pay for it!
  • The wine, the company, the whole weekend. It was wonderful.
On to the next thing. Birthdays! Food! Working out! Crawling, teething, and sitting up on your own (do you do that already? Josie's jealous). It's going to be a busy couple of weeks. :)

Christmas part 1

One of the things we did this Christmas weekend was go see my mom's parents. They live in a nursing/assisted living home and don't get the chance to get out much, so we go to them. Cool thing: every time we go there, there is a new picture of Josie (8 X 10) that my mom prints off from this here blog... so it will be fun to see one or two of these pictures next time.

Right away, my grandpa asked if he could hold her. You have to understand: he hasn't wanted to at all since she was born because he was afraid that he would drop her. Baby intuition! She knew how important it was and was therefore perfect. PERFECT. She had just woken up so she just chilled in his lap for a while before playing with her pony (in his lap).

This grin right here, seeing him so happy, is the best. Even though he's gotten more fragile and limited in movement and energy, his soul, his being is the same and that is the smile I grew up with.

She would just stare at him when he made faces. Too funny.

Then we gave her the card she got from them. She was into it... into eating it.

The present from them was entertaining too, but not quite as much as Grandpa. She was only interested in it for about 5 minutes.

I didn't get any pictures of my grandma this time, but she was just as excited to watch Jo scoot around on the floor and -just-about- crawl. She's sooooo close.....

Weekend Update

It's been a while since I've blogged. There isn't really a reason other than me being lazy. And Christmas is only a week away!! I can hardly contain myself.

Josie still hasn't quite mastered crawling. I'm almost wondering if she's just decided it isn't worth it since she can scoot her way across the floor (slowly but surely) and get what she wants.

Her hair has gotten crazy lately. There's no taming it... It just seems to be so long all of a sudden! I can put it in a ponytail easily and therefore hide the craziness, but who wants the same exact thing every single day. Josie doesn't. I'm pretty sure she told me that the other day.

All of my presents are wrapped and under the tree. I should take a picture because it is the most perfect image! I cleaned up a bunch yesterday so my house is at least presentable enough to get through another week. That's my goal lately. The thought of cleaning the whole thing, truly deep cleaning, is completely overwhelming and I avoid it at all costs.

I'm going to try to make something from Pinterest today. I'll let you know how it goes. It looks amazing but you just never know. I think most people repin things because they look good, not because they've tried and liked it.

Here's hoping the week just flies by! (And the weekend creeps by...)
