This weekend we went to the lake (surprise, surprise) and we got to pick strawberries at a nearby berry farm. It was so fun! We didn't have any expectations since the weather has been up and down and we figured it'd be super expensive. It wasn't at all and they were delicious. We ate as many as we could and left with a bucket and a half.
We were kind of worried that we'd just end up chasing Josie around but she was so into eating them that she never strayed far from Grammy's bucket and always had a huge fresh strawberry in hand. Needless to say her sweatshirt need a good washing afterwards, but it was worth it.
Grammy and Boppa got her a bunch of new toys and it was perfect. She was so excited to try everything out so there was way less straying and chasing than before which I appreciated quite a bit. That girl wears a mama out.
The men worked hard at clearing out some old dead trees while Josie and I explored the uncharted territories of the property (only the mowed part of course).
Buckley would lay in any spot that was shaded and after a while he really got creative.
We brought out this swingset that a friend of ours gave us for free. Girl loves to swing and there's way more room out there for it than in our tiny backyard.
We also went to visit my grandparents and they ate her up. They haven't seen her (besides pictures) in quite a while and were pretty shocked by how much she had grown up. My grandma kept saying how she was just like my mom as a baby/toddler. I believe it!
On Sunday we went to visit another lake place. Family/friends Heath and Missy's family's place is only about 45 minutes away from my parent's place but it's totally different. The beach is super sandy and the lake is a lot bigger, and we got to swim and play in the sand way more than ever before. It did get kind of cold towards the end, but Josie loved it and we even got the men in the water. That NEVER HAPPENS. Hubby didn't grow up swimming like we did so he isn't drawn to water at all and I have to practically drag him in.
Swimming is definitely in the top 10 favorite things to do in the summer. Eating watermelon, rhubarb cake and pie, and laying in the sun is up there too.
